I think that a big chunk of happiness is when you are completely and unconditionally appreciated by one person on this choppy green ball. Some people get greedy and try and receive total unbiased appreciation from more than one person, and in the process shun the person that started the trend of appreciating the department they shine in. Slowly they regret the lust they had for appreciation, because unconditional appreciation is rarely aquired by request cloaked by hollow actions. Rather by luck, this appreciation graces us occasionally on accident. As an answer to a question posed by various actions we made that showed just a little too much of our true selves to that person.
People seeking approval is dumb, people seeking appreciation is even dumber.
Approval is without a doubt easier to get than Appreciation, this due mostly to the fact that unconditional appreciation is often gained by chance. Approval is sometimes forcefully acquired by the insecure party. Approval is also less tasty for a shorter time than appreciation.
We live in this socially paranoid state, where we trust certain people with some information, and others with a little more, but occasionally a person comes along that gets even more then everybody else. If you let someone just deep enough in, they might just really appreciate you. We are humans, and we live on intuition. We feel special when we even remotely believe we are let into more areas of your life then everybody else. It is intoxicating but also blinding.
